March 2002 ConcertThe Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta's March 2002 concert featured Janice Wong, Pianist. She is the winner of the society's 2001 Scholarship Competition. Program Ms. Wong presented the following program : "Sonata" in A Minor, K310 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791)
"French Suite No. 6" in E Major by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750)
"Sonata No. 2" in B-flat Minor. Op 35 by Frederic Chopin (1810 - 1849)
"Sonata" in A Major,. D. 664 by Franz Schubert (1798 - 1828) "Canciones y danzas", No. 6 by Federico Mompou (1893 - 1987) "Dumka," Op. 59 by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikowsky (1840 - 1893) "Etude No. 3" in C Minor, Op. 2 by Sergei Prokofiev (1873 - 1943) Top Artist's Biography Janice Wong was the winner of the 2001 Pro-Mozart Society Scholarship to the Mozarteum Institute in Salzburg, Austria, which enabled her to attend the summer sessions. Ms. Wong attended Dunwoody High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed her Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Piano Performance at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in 2000. During the course of her studies at the Peabody Institute, she performed in many solo and chamber music recitals at Lutherville, Maryland, Chung-San University in Taiwan, Yamaha Company in Kaohsiung, as well as giving recitals at the Peabody Institute of Music. She was one of the musicians to be selected to participate in the Governor’s Honors Program in 1994. Ms. Wong has won numerous awards and has been finalist in various competitions around the South. In her application for the scholarship she wrote: “It is my desire to become a more profound artist rather than just a note player.
