The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta's 2007 Members and Friends Concert was held at Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia.

Artists' Biographies

Madonna Brownlee

Madonna Brownlee, Organist

Madonna Brownlee, an accomplished organist, received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. Her post-graduate work included studies in the Union Theological Seminary's School of Sacred Music, Florida International University, and the University of South Florida. Madonna has presented numerous recitals and served as an accomplished organist for a broad spectrum of organizations and churches throughout Indiana, Georgia, and Florida as well as in Austria. Madonna is currently serving as organist at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Atlanta. Through the years, Madonna has held a number of offices in The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta.

Ben Jackson

Ben Jackson, Clarinetist

Ben is currently an Honors Program senior at the University of Georgia, where he is studying clarinet at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music and is the principal of the Wind Ensemble. Ben's early successes include being chosen as principal clarinet in the Georgia All-State Band and acceptance to the Brevard Music Festival. Most notable was his being winner of the concerto competition at the University of Georgia. Ben is currently auditioning for admittance to top music schools and conservatories following his graduation from UGA.

Mary Ann Hill

Mary Ann Hill, Soprano

Mary Ann received both her bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Syracuse University, where she studied both piano and voice. Her post-graduate studies have taken her to Europe, where she has also performed. As a soprano soloist, Mary Ann has sung in classic opera, including the leads in La Boheme, Cavalliera Rusticana, and Cosi fan Tutti. In addition, she has sung soprano roles in American musicals in New York City, including The Music Man and Guys and Dolls. May Ann continues to be actively engaged in theater, opera, and recital. She is a past president of The Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta.

Gary Charles Menzies, Pianist

An accomplished pianist, Gary has fulfilled both solo and accompanist roles for over twenty-five years. He has performed in a wide variety of capacities ranging from studio recordings and television appearances to sold-out concert halls. Gary studied in Atlanta at Clayton State College and is a graduate of Georgia State University. He has studied under Jeanine Morrison, Ruth McDonald, and Aida Tedder deBray. His scholarships include the Brevard Music Center and the Penny Arts Foundation as well as being selected as the first recipient of the Atlanta Steinway Society Scholarship under whose auspices he auditioned for William Masseios at the Juilliard School of Music. Gary's musical tours have included the Caribbean, Alaska, New York, and London; recordings include an album of Gershwin music and a full program of Chopin works. He recently recorded material for two CDs released in November 1999. He has served as Principal Improvisation Coach at the Georgia State University Opera Workshops. He has been a featured artist in five Pianorama Concerts at the renowned Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Since 1993, Gary has made debuts in Spivey Hall and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. Recently he was soloist with the Walton Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Andrew Michael

Andrew Michael, Tenor

Andrew hails from a diverse background and his music career spans over twenty years. Touring early on as a pop singer in the Western United States, he later went on to pursue a B. S. Degree in Music from Illinois State University. He did his graduate work at the University of Louisville and possesses a Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati. All of these programs were completed with honor, finishing near the top of his class. During this time, he also studied with Velia Botti, a versatile performer appearing in both opera and musicals, and his many operatic roles have included Nemorino, Ferrando, Rololpho, and the La DCA D Mantua. In addition, Andrew is also an ardent interpreter of a large repertoire of English, German, French, and Italian songs. He currently studies in Atlanta with Elisabeth Nohe Colson.
